Workshop Training Plan 

Workshop Title: Module 6: PTRA: Plan, Teach, Reflect, Adjust

Workshop Description:  In this module, you will explore ways that will help you design and develop lesson plans for your communicative language classrooms. You will also have a chance to delve deeper into reflective teaching practices that will benefit both you and your learners.

Activity: Whisper Relay

1) Divide into teams 6-8 participants per team. 

Have them stand in front of the back board. 

2) Explain the last person will read a word they must WHISPER it to the person in front of them. The word is whispered down the line till it gets to the “first” person in front of board gets it.  The first person then writes it on the board. WATCH FOR CHEATING! 

3) Rotate first person to the back of line.   

4) Repeat till you have given all 7 words

5) Discuss what these words have to do with each other. All have to do with lesson planning.

  1. Ask if participants can remember the words from whisper relay.  Write on board out of order. 
  2. Watch video order words. 
  3. Check answers. 
  4. While participants are watching video post guiding questions and activities around the room. 
 

Activity 2: Gallery walk sort:

  1. Tell participants they are going to fill in a chart. In one column they need to write guiding questions and in the other activities.  Note: for the activities they might fit in more then one category. 
  2. They can choose to do on own or pairs or small groups. 
  3. You can check as class or hand out article and they can self-check by reading it. 

If time is tight you can do as a class and divide the board into lesson parts (Same as chart).   The participants go around the room and tape the questions and activities to board.

Lesson Planning

1: Divide into groups of 3.  Preferably of teachers that teach same level class

2:  Each groups needs to choose an upcoming  unit/lesson (preferably something they can teach in school before the next session) from the textbook and create a lesson plan from it with all the stages.   

3:  Make a poster of their lesson plan. 

4: Prepare to micro teach   (20min) if not all a component .

  1. Pair two groups up one group will micro teach to the other group for 20 min they will then have 10 minutes for feedback. 
  2. Switch.

Teachers should adjust their lesson based on feedback and then use it with a class.   They should video a short section and post in telegram group.
